Markus Niemelä, 2008 Atlantics champion, is now driving sprint cars, and recently had a bit of a tumble at Perris Speedway after breaking an axle mid turn. Without that left rear wheel and tire to provide any cushion, the rollcage took a couple big hits; first from the catch fence post and again from the track surface. Niemelä suffered a concussion, but apart from being sore was otherwise uninjured.
